We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Certified Public Accountant (CPA) to join a growing security company based in New York City. This role plays a critical part in overseeing the company’s financial operations, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and strategic financial planning in a fast-paced, regulated environment.
The CPA will be responsible for managing accounting functions, financial reporting, compliance, and internal controls while partnering closely with executive leadership to support business growth, operational efficiency, and long-term financial stability. The ideal candidate brings strong technical accounting expertise, excellent judgment, and the ability to operate as a trusted financial advisor within the organization.
Key Responsibilities Financial Reporting & Accounting Operations- Oversee all accounting functions, including general ledger, month-end and year-end close processes
- Prepare, review, and analyze financial statements in accordance with GAAP
- Ensure accurate and timely reporting of financial results to leadership
- Manage federal, state, and local tax compliance, filings and reporting requirements
- Ensure compliance with all applicable accounting standards, internal policies and regulatory requirements
- Coordinate with external auditors, tax advisors and regulatory agencies as needed
- Develop, implement and maintain strong internal controls and accounting policies
- Identify financial risks and recommend mitigation strategies
- Support audits, reviews and compliance initiatives
- Lead budgeting, forecasting and financial planning processes
- Analyze financial performance, trends and variances to support decision-making
- Provide insights and recommendations to improve profitability and cost efficiency
- Partner with executive leadership to support strategic initiatives and business planning
- Collaborate with operations, HR and management teams to align financial processes with business needs
- Provide guidance and mentorship to accounting and finance staff as needed
- Oversee accounting systems and financial tools to ensure efficiency and accuracy
- Identify opportunities to streamline processes and improve financial reporting
- Support implementation of new systems, controls or reporting tools as the business grows
Required Qualifications
- Active Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field
- Significant experience in accounting, financial reporting and compliance
- Experience working in a regulated or service-based industry
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, tax regulations and financial best practices
- Experience managing audits and working with external accounting firms
- Exceptional attention to detail and analytical skills
- Strong leadership, communication and interpersonal abilities
- High level of integrity and discretion when handling sensitive information
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
