Excelon Associates is partnering with a higher education institution to recruit a Senior Financial Aid Officer to support the delivery of timely, accurate, and compliant financial aid services. This role plays a key part in student counseling, aid administration, regulatory compliance, and internal team support, with a strong emphasis on Title IV expertise and student service.
The Senior Financial Aid Officer is responsible for advising students and families on financial aid options while overseeing aid processing, eligibility, and compliance. This individual will also support junior staff, contribute to process improvements, and help ensure a positive, student-first experience throughout the financial aid lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities Student & Family Counseling- Advise students and families on financial aid programs, FAFSA completion, award letters, and eligibility requirements.
- Oversee aid packaging, eligibility determination, and disbursement across federal, state, and institutional programs.
- Monitor Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP), assist with Return to Title IV (R2T4) calculations, and ensure ongoing compliance with federal and state regulations.
- Maintain adherence to Title IV requirements, audit standards, and institutional policies under the Higher Education Act.
- Utilize financial aid systems such as Anthology, COD, NSLDS, and Campus Ivy's CORE platform.
- Mentor junior staff members, assist with workflow management, and support consistent service delivery.
- Participate in FAFSA workshops and student-facing financial aid events.
- Recommend enhancements to financial aid policies, procedures, and operational practices.
- Handle escalated student concerns with professionalism, accuracy, and discretion.
- Bachelor's degree preferred in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in financial aid administration, including at least 2 years in a senior-level role
- Strong working knowledge of Title IV regulations, R2T4, verification, SAP, and the Higher Education Act
- Proficiency with financial aid systems and Microsoft Excel (CORE training available)
- Excellent communication, analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Employment Type: Full-Time
- Schedule: Monday through Friday; hybrid model with three days on campus per week
