Role

We are seeking a detail‑oriented and proactive Property Accountant to take full ownership of the financial health of a premier residential portfolio. In this role, you will be the primary authority on the accuracy of monthly financial reporting, general ledger integrity, and property‑level compliance. This is an excellent opportunity for a mid‑career accounting professional with Yardi experience to join a stable, growth‑oriented real‑estate organization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Financial Reporting & Month‑End Close: Lead the full‑cycle month‑end close process for an assigned residential portfolio. Prepare and distribute high‑quality internal and external financial statements.
  • General Ledger & Reconciliation: Perform comprehensive G/L analysis and reconciliations. Manage daily banking transactions, mortgage escrow, and reserve account activity.
  • Treasury & Debt Service: Record and monitor monthly wires and debt service payments, ensuring all obligations are met accurately and on time.
  • Banking Oversight: Perform bank reconciliations for all properties, including the meticulous management of tenant security deposit accounts.
  • Tax & Audit Readiness: Compile year‑end audit and tax work papers. Facilitate property tax compliance, including NYC RPIE forms and annual certiorari applications.
  • Strategic Support: Assist leadership with ad‑hoc financial projects and process improvements to enhance portfolio performance.
Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance preferred.
  • Experience: 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, specifically within the real estate industry.
  • Software Mastery: Proficiency in Yardi is required. Candidates should also be highly proficient in MS Excel.
  • Niche Expertise: Experience with Tax Credit (LIHTC) residential properties is a significant plus.
  • Compliance Knowledge: Familiarity with New York property tax filings (RPIE, etc.) is highly desirable.
  • Core Competencies: Strong analytical problem‑solving skills and the ability to communicate financial data clearly to non‑accounting stakeholders.
Compensation & Benefits

Salary range: $90-105k base. The role may also include discretionary bonuses and participation in the company's medical, dental, vision benefits and 401(k) retirement plan.

We comply with all equal opportunity employment laws.
