Job Description & How to Apply Below
A private equity-backed, rapidly growing residential and commercial field services business based in New York and servicing throughout the northeast, is seeking a Corporate Controller.
We are seeking a proactive and experienced Controller to report directly to the Chief Financial Officer and lead accounting operations across corporate and subsidiary entities in a fast-paced, private equity–backed organization. This role will oversee financial reporting, month-end close, audit preparation, acquisition integration, and continuous improvement of financial systems and processes. The ideal candidate is a hands‑on leader with strong technical accounting skills and a builder’s mindset.
Work Environment:
Hybrid schedule, 3 days in office.
- Lead and execute a disciplined month‑end close process (targeting completion within seven business days), ensuring full compliance with U.S. GAAP and all internal and external reporting requirements.
- Oversee the financial integration of newly acquired entities, including opening balance sheet establishment, systems onboarding, and implementation of internal controls.
- Manage multi‑entity consolidations and financial system data integrations to ensure accuracy, audit readiness, and regulatory compliance.
- Integrate historical financial results into pro forma models to support Board reporting, lender communications, and tax compliance.
- Drive automation and process enhancements across ERP, accounts payable, and payroll systems to improve efficiency, scalability, and data integrity.
- Build, mentor, and lead a high‑performing accounting team while fostering strong collaboration with operations, IT, and M&A stakeholders.
- Develop, document, and maintain standardized accounting policies for revenue recognition, accruals, and intercompany activity, supported by a comprehensive Accounting Playbook.
- Partner closely with the CFO to evaluate, select, and implement a new ERP system to enhance financial visibility, scalability, and reporting capabilities.
- Provide strategic oversight and operational leadership for payroll and accounts payable functions across multiple business units.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline required; CPA and/or Master’s degree strongly preferred.
- 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including a minimum of two years in public accounting and at least two years in a people leadership role.
- Demonstrated success leading close processes, post‑acquisition integrations, and financial systems implementations or upgrades.
- Deep knowledge of U.S. GAAP, including revenue recognition and consolidation accounting.
- Advanced Excel skills; experience with BI and data visualization tools such as Power BI or Tableau is a plus.
- Prior experience in a private equity–backed, acquisitive environment is required.
- A hands‑on, solutions‑oriented leader with a strong bias toward execution, operational rigor, and continuous improvement.
- Highly organized and detail‑oriented, with a deep understanding of financial systems and emerging technologies.
- A clear, effective communicator who builds trust and alignment across cross‑functional teams.
- Passionate about developing talent and scaling accounting infrastructure to support rapid, sustainable growth.
