Credit Analyst @ Lending

Coda Search is partnering with a growing small business lending platform with offices located in New York, NY. The Credit Analyst / Loan Underwriter will play a critical role in evaluating credit risk, underwriting loan requests, and performing market analysis across the sector. This is a hands‑on role ideal for someone with strong analytical skills, sound credit judgment, and experience underwriting small business loans, alternative credit products, or cash‑flow‑based lending.

• Review and underwrite small business loan applications across multiple products, including term loans, lines of credit, and working capital facilities
• Analyze borrower financials, including bank statements, cash flow trends, tax returns, and management‑provided financials
• Assess creditworthiness using both traditional and alternative data sources (cash flow, payment behavior, industry risk, etc.)
• Prepare clear and concise credit memos summarizing risk, structure, and underwriting rationale
• Evaluate business models, industry dynamics, and use of proceeds to determine repayment capacity
• Apply credit policy guidelines while exercising independent judgment on exceptions and risk trade-offs
• Monitor approved loans for covenant compliance, performance trends, and early warning indicators
• Support portfolio reviews, risk reporting, and ongoing credit process improvements

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field
• 2+ years of experience in credit analysis or underwriting
• Experience underwriting small business loans, commercial loans, or alternative lending products preferred
• High attention to detail with the ability to manage volume and deadlines
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Proficiency in Excel; experience with underwriting platforms or fintech tools is a plus
