Aboutthe Position
Karbone is seeking a Power Portfolio Manager to help grow its Power business. This role is responsible for managing market exposure, optimizing portfolio performance, and supporting opportunistic, short and medium-term positions across North American power markets. The position plays a central role in the firm’s expansion into Power, helping translate market opportunities into actionable portfolio decisions while maintaining disciplined risk management.
Key Responsibilities- Manage and optimize a portfolio of physical and financial power positions across ISO/RTO markets
- Develop and execute portfolio strategies to maximize risk-adjusted returns.
- Monitor market fundamentals, congestion, load, generation, and weather impacts.
- Analyze and manage exposure across energy, capacity, ancillary services, and congestion products.
- Partner closely with Power Origination to structure and price customer transactions.
- Design and implement hedging strategies to manage market, credit, and operational risk.
- Oversee position management, mark-to-market, and risk reporting.
- Support development of new products, structured deals, and long-term offtake agreements.
- Improve portfolio optimization tools, models, and processes.
- 2+ years of experience in power trading or portfolio management in ERCOT, NYISO, ISO-NE, MISO, PJM, or CAISO
- Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Engineering, Mathematics, or related field; advanced degree a plus
- Deep knowledge of North American power markets and ISO/RTO structures.
- Strong quantitative and analytical skills; proficiency in Excel required, Python a plus
- Strong understanding of power market fundamentals, congestion, capacity, and ancillary services
The estimated base salary for this position is estimated to be $125,000 - $200,000. Total compensation includes comprehensive benefits and bonus eligibility.
