Operations Analyst – New York, NY

The Horizon Group is seeking a detail-oriented & self‑motivated Operations Analyst to join the investment operations team for one of our clients in New York, NY. Our client is a rapidly growing organization that owns and operates multiple insurance companies and ancillary insurance businesses. Their AUM currently stands at approximately $9 billion. Portfolio investments include traditional fixed‑income instruments as well as less liquid and alternative assets, including CLOs, private and collateralized credit, real estate, and private equity transactions.

The Operations Analyst will work closely with portfolio managers, traders, and internal stakeholders to support day‑to‑day operational activities across a range of investment strategies. The role focuses on accurate trade processing, reconciliation, and supporting the integrity of investment data across internal systems. The ideal candidate is a proactive problem‑solver with strong analytical skills and the ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast‑paced environment.

Compensation: $80 k – $125 k plus competitive bonus.

Responsibilities
  • Accurately capture and settle trades across asset classes
  • Perform daily cash and position reconciliations; investigate and resolve breaks with custodians and administrators
  • Monitor investment data quality across trade, position, and accounting systems; escalate issues as needed
  • Assist in interpreting credit agreements and term sheets to support operational setup and trade booking
  • Collaborate with portfolio management, risk, and accounting teams to ensure timely issue resolution and data alignment
  • Support new business initiatives, system enhancements, and workflow automation projects
Qualifications
  • Strong academic performance with 3+ years of experience in fixed income operations
  • Understanding of trade lifecycle and basic reconciliation processes
  • Strong Excel skills; ability to handle large datasets and generate repeatable reporting outputs
  • High attention to detail and strong organizational skills
  • Clear verbal and written communication skills; able to work cross‑functionally
  • Self-starter capable of managing tasks independently in a high‑pressure environment
  • Team‑oriented mindset and strong professional integrity
