About

the Role

Brookfield is recruiting for a Manager, Capital Markets in our New York office. The role represents an exciting opportunity to join a growing and dynamic global team. Reporting to the Vice President, Capital Markets & Treasury, the role is part of a collaborative team of professionals focused on capital markets activities and growth initiatives for Brookfield’s Renewable and Infrastructure businesses. The Analyst will work closely with the team responsible for executing project financings, acquisition financings and advising on strategic initiatives aimed at achieving long-term growth objectives.

The Manager will interface with members of the senior management team, key finance and business leaders, portfolio company management and important outside service providers (banks, lenders, investors, credit rating agencies, accounting and legal advisors).

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead execution of debt and tax equity financings, including overseeing the model, managing all deliverables and diligence efforts, and serving as a key point of contact with investors, legal advisors and consultants to achieve financial close.
  • Assist in developing and negotiating term sheets, credit agreements and other finance documents for new debt and tax equity financings.
  • Coordinate with the corporate development and construction teams to ensure construction and term financings are properly suited to development and construction timelines and funding requirements are well understood.
  • Assist in developing financing strategies for presentation to senior management.
  • Support the VP, Capital Markets and Treasury on projects to enhance financial management of the organization
  • Provide coaching to team members to foster their development.
  • Contribute to a flexible, dynamic, and team-oriented working culture that fosters personal development and a positive attitude.
Knowledge and Experience Required
  • 5+ years of previous experience in project finance or investment banking.
  • Fluency in financial modeling and familiarity with tax equity and debt structures.
  • Experience in renewables.
  • Recognized professional designation (CFA, CPA) preferred; and
  • Existing relationships with financial institutions considered an asset.
  • Strong leadership skills, including a strong sense of personal ownership, commitment, and accountability.
  • Ability to balance delegation with being “hands on” in both documentation and modelling.
  • High level of proficiency in Excel and Power Point and strong financial modeling skills.
  • Well organized and ability to synthesize and conceptualize complex ideas.
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and presentation skills, effective with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Solid analytical skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Able to meet multiple objectives in a dynamic, fast-paced, team environment.
