Job Description

Starwood Capital Group is seeking a highly motivated and analytically rigorous Summer Analyst to support the firm's global sustainability initiatives during Summer 2027. This internship offers hands‑on exposure to how sustainability integration drives value creation and reduces risk across the real estate investment lifecycle at a leading global private investment firm.

At Starwood, sustainability is viewed as a strategic lever for enhancing asset performance, protecting portfolio value, and meeting evolving investor and regulatory requirements. Our approach focuses on quantifiable returns, operational efficiency improvements, and proactive risk management rather than compliance‑driven activities alone.

The Summer Analyst will be a member of Starwood's Sustainability Team and will collaborate with colleagues across acquisitions, asset management, portfolio management, and investor relations. This role is designed to provide meaningful analytical experience in:

Responsibilities
  • Value Creation Analysis: Identifying and quantifying sustainability‑driven opportunities that enhance property performance, reduce operating costs, and increase asset competitiveness.
  • Risk Assessment & Mitigation: Evaluating climate‑related physical and transition risks, regulatory exposure, and market positioning challenges across diverse property types and geographies.
  • Investment Integration: Supporting due diligence processes, underwriting assumptions, and business plan development that incorporate sustainability considerations into financial modeling.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Preparing investor reporting materials, responding to ESG questionnaires, and supporting communications that demonstrate how sustainability initiatives contribute to portfolio returns.
Qualifications
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills, with high attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated academic achievement and strong quantitative or analytical coursework preferred.
  • Strong interest in sustainability, responsible investment, and real estate or alternative asset management.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint; experience with data analysis and presentation development is a plus.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively in a team environment.
  • Intellectual curiosity and a willingness to learn in a fast‑paced, professional environment.
Eligibility

To be considered for the 2027 Summer Analyst Program, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Currently enrolled as an undergraduate student.
  • Graduation date or anticipated graduation date:
    Fall 2027-Spring 2028.
