Position Overview:
Our client is seeking a detail-driven Financial Analyst to take ownership of critical asset accounting, long-term debt management, and payroll liability reconciliation. This role is integral to maintaining financial integrity and supporting strategic decision-making across the organization.
What You'll Do:
- Lead the complete fixed asset lifecycle, from acquisition through disposal, ensuring compliance with GAAP standards and accurate capitalization of all projects
- Calculate annual depreciation schedules, perform monthly reconciliations, and maintain the integrity of the fixed assets database within Banner ERP
- Review and authorize fixed asset and long-term debt requisitions, monitoring prepaid deposits and construction-in-progress accounts
- Develop comprehensive roll-forward schedules and provide analytical insights on asset performance, including buildings, land improvements, equipment, and technology
- Partner cross-functionally with Facilities, Technology, and Budget teams to optimize asset procurement strategies, proper expenditure coding, and capital forecasting
- Oversee capital lease accounting and prepare detailed audit schedules demonstrating compliance and accuracy
- Manage the complete debt portfolio, including trustee activity tracking, principal and interest payment reconciliation, and resolution of any discrepancies
- Reconcile trustee bank statements, post interest income and quarterly interest rate swap transactions, and maintain all bond-related accounts including issuance costs, premiums/discounts, and trustee deposits
- Ensure accuracy across all payroll liability accounts through thorough monthly reconciliation and variance investigation
- Prepare month-end accruals with detailed variance analysis to provide management with actionable insights and early identification of potential issues
- Compile annual external reports for long-term debt and fixed assets in accordance with regulatory requirements
- Drive special projects and analytical initiatives that enhance financial operations and reporting
What You Bring:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
- Solid understanding of GAAP, particularly related to capital assets, depreciation, and debt accounting
- Experience with ERP systems (Banner experience highly valued)
- Advanced Excel skills with the ability to build complex financial models and analyses
- Exceptional analytical mindset with meticulous attention to accuracy
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across departments
- Self-starter mentality with the ability to manage multiple priorities independently
- Problem-solving orientation with a commitment to continuous improvement
