Financial Manager, Financial Reporting
Volunteers of America‑Greater New York (VOA‑Greater New York) is an anti‑poverty organization working to end homelessness in the New York area by 2050. We operate over 60 programs across New York City, Northern New Jersey and Westchester County including emergency, transitional and permanent housing. Our services extend to families experiencing homelessness, survivors of domestic violence, people living with HIV/AIDS, veterans, youth aging out of foster care, adults with behavioral health or substance use needs, and others in need, including a special education preschool program.

Minimum Qualifications- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.
- CPA/MBA a plus.
- five years relevant billing, budget, and financial analysis experience, including at least two years in a supervisory capacity.
- Knowledge and ability to use an in‑house PC‑based accounting system in a network environment, including ability to create, run, and verify reports.
- Advanced expertise with Excel/Word is essential.
- This position requires the ability to successfully manage multiple projects under deadlines.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, analytical and conceptual skills required.
- Review and analyze financial trends impacting the bottom line and provide recommendations for operational improvements through sound analytical procedures.
- Prepare and review program budgets, actual variances, projections, accruals, allocations, and journal entries to ensure accuracy and balanced budgets.
- Support the Director during regular meetings with Program Directors to provide guidance, deliver and explain fiscal data, and actively participate in the management of the designated portfolio.
- Approve program purchases and monitor salary, fringe, and OTPS allocations, ensuring adherence to approved methodologies.
- Assist in the collaboration with program management to optimize contract funding based on financial insights.
- Maintain comprehensive knowledge of funder requirements, guidelines, cost manuals, and policies for compliance.
- Prepare CFR and other external reporting with related supporting schedules.
- Supervise, cross‑train, and evaluate assigned staff.
- Review monthly billings, track revenue collection, journal entries, and strategize for cash flow optimization.
- Enhance the efficiency of the monthly deliverable calendar, update billing matrix for cash flow projections, and ensure a deep understanding of government billing guidelines and related cost manuals.
