Private Equity Vice President (Tech Focus)

About the Firm: I am currently working with a leading lower‑middle‑market private equity firm investing in founder‑led and entrepreneur‑owned technology and tech‑enabled services businesses. Their strategy focuses on control investments in companies with strong fundamentals, recurring revenue, and clear opportunities for operational improvement. The team is lean, analytical, and hands‑on, giving every investment professional meaningful ownership across sourcing, execution, and portfolio value creation.

Position Overview

The Vice President will be a senior deal team member responsible for leading transaction execution, managing diligence processes, and driving value creation initiatives across the portfolio.

Key Responsibilities
  • Build and maintain relationships with founders, bankers, brokers, and industry executives.
  • Develop investment theses across software, tech‑enabled services, and niche vertical markets.
  • Conduct market mapping, competitive analysis, and early‑stage screening of opportunities.
  • Represent the firm at industry events and conferences.
  • Lead financial modeling, valuation, and return analysis for new investments.
  • Manage all diligence work streams (commercial, financial, technical, operational, legal).
  • Coordinate third‑party advisors and internal resources to drive efficient, high‑quality processes.
  • Prepare and present investment committee materials with clear, data‑driven recommendations.
  • Support negotiation of LOIs, purchase agreements, and key transaction terms.
  • Partner with portfolio company CEOs and management teams to execute value‑creation plans.
  • Support initiatives across pricing, go‑to‑market, product strategy, M&A, and operational efficiency.
  • Monitor performance, KPIs, and financial results; identify risks and opportunities.
  • Lead follow‑on investment evaluations and support exit planning.
Internal Leadership
  • Mentor associates and analysts; provide guidance on modeling, diligence, and communication.
  • Contribute to firm‑wide strategy, fundraising materials, and LP communications as needed.
Required Qualifications
  • 6-8+ years of total experience
  • Demonstrated track record executing transactions - ideally control deals in the lower‑middle‑market.
  • Strong financial modeling, valuation, and analytical skills.
  • Experience managing full diligence processes and coordinating advisors.
  • Strong communication skills and executive presence.
  • Ability to operate independently in a lean, entrepreneurial environment.
