Job Description

At Legal & General Home Finance, we’re looking for an experienced Underwriter to join our team and help us deliver high-quality, compliant decisions that support our customers and business partners. What you'll be doing
  • Assessing and authorising applications within mandate, escalating complex cases as needed
  • Delivering high-quality technical underwriting aligned with audit and compliance standards
  • Communicating effectively with customers and third parties via phone, email and letter
  • Coaching and mentoring team members to build technical capability and confidence
  • Attending meetings with internal teams and external partners to strengthen relationships
  • Monitoring service levels and identifying areas for improvement in team performance
  • Analysing underwriting data to spot trends and support decision-making
  • Supporting change initiatives with a flexible and proactive approach
Qualifications

Who we're looking for:

  • Previous experience in financial services or a related industry
  • Minimum of GCSEs in English and Mathematics (or equivalent)
  • Strong understanding of AML, TCF, and Data Protection regulations
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with attention to detail
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and general computer literacy
  • A collaborative team player with a flexible mindset
  • Confidence in handling customer interactions, including complaints
  • Analytical skills to interpret data and identify actionable insights
