A rapidly expanding global investment firm is seeking to hire an Associate for its due diligence team in NYC. The firm is building out its operational risk and diligence function and is seeking to add an Operational Due Diligence Associate to the team. This is a newly created role designed to support the firm’s continued growth and increasing investment activity across alternative strategies.

The ideal profile is someone coming from a Big 4 or similar audit background with strong exposure to financial controls, risk, and operational processes.

This individual will play a key role in assessing the operational strength, risk framework, and infrastructure of external investment managers and partners. The position sits close to the investment team and senior leadership, with high visibility and meaningful impact on investment decisions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform in-depth operational assessments of external investment managers across asset classes such as hedge funds, private equity, private credit, and other alternative strategies.
  • Review and evaluate operational frameworks including governance, internal controls, compliance, valuation, trade execution, technology, and business continuity.
  • Conduct site visits and virtual reviews, interviewing key stakeholders and reviewing policies, procedures, and operational workflows.
  • Synthesize findings into clear, well-structured reports outlining risks, strengths, and areas for enhancement.
  • Present conclusions and recommendations to investment and risk leadership.
  • Maintain ongoing monitoring of approved managers, including periodic reviews and issue tracking.
Qualifications & Profile

  • 3+ years of experience in audit, risk, or operational review—Big 4 or top-tier public accounting background strongly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of internal controls, risk assessment, and operational processes within financial services.
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to evaluate complex operating models.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, capable of presenting findings to senior stakeholders.
