We are partnering with a well-respected middle-market private equity fund to hire a Private Equity Associate to join its investment team in New York. The firm focuses on control-oriented investments across the Financial Institutions Group (FIG), with core coverage spanning specialty finance, insurance, asset and wealth management, payments, and fintech-enabled financial services. The team has a strong track record of partnering closely with management teams to build scaled, defensible platforms.
Responsibilities:
- Evaluate new investment opportunities across financial services, including specialty finance, insurance, payments, asset/wealth management, and fintech-enabled businesses
- Build and maintain detailed LBO, operating, and valuation models
- Conduct commercial, financial, regulatory, and strategic due diligence
- Support transaction execution from initial screening through closing
- Work closely with senior investors and management teams during diligence and post-close value creation
- Assist with portfolio company monitoring, strategic initiatives, and add-on acquisitions
- Prepare investment committee materials and internal investment memoranda
Candidate Profile:
- 1–2 years of investment banking experience from a top-tier or strong middle-market platform
- Strong financial modeling and analytical skill set
- Prior exposure to financial services, FIG, fintech, insurance, or specialty finance is preferred but not required
- High attention to detail and strong work ethic
- Self-motivated, intellectually curious, and comfortable in a fast-paced environment
- Clear communicator with strong professional presence
