Overview

Our client located in Manhattan is looking to hire an experienced Staff Accountant on a direct hire basis. This Staff Accountant position is a full time role and is on site 3 days per week and remote 2 days. The standard hours are Monday – Friday from 9am – 5:30pm but you would need to put in additional hours as needed during month end, year end and quarter end.

This position reports directly into the Controller.

Responsibilities
  • Auditing employee expenses: first line of defense to ensure expenses adhere to company and IRS guidelines.
  • Preparing and reviewing reports, such as AP, AR schedules and Travel & Expense reports
  • Assist the Controller with the day-to-day, monthly and year-end operations of the Accounting/ Finance Department including budget review and analysis.
  • Manage daily operations including processing wires and managing digital filing system.
  • Review expense coding to ensure compliance.
  • Perform the processing of monthly accruals, amortization of prepaid expenses, fixed assets depreciation and recording of adjusting and reclassification journal entries, if necessary.
  • Prepare annual and quarterly book close reports.
  • Prepare and analyze the monthly cash budget/forecast to actual variance.
  • Perform general accounts analysis and reconciliations of bank statements, and other balance sheet accounts.
  • Assist in the preparation and review of financial reporting process, including review of statement of assets, liabilities and partner’s capital, statement of operations, statement of changes in partner’s capital, statement of cash flows, schedule of investments, footnotes and related disclosures.
  • Perform other accounting, financial, and administrative tasks as required from time to time – quite often on short notice.
  • Consolidation experience of one or more companies on a GAAP basis
Qualifications
  • Proficiency with computers and bookkeeping software (e.g. Quick Books.)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Power Point, especially Excel with Pivots, v-lookups, etc).
  • Monitor and collect data to assess accuracy and integrity; analyze data; ensure compliance with applicable standards (i.e. GAAP), rules, regulations and systems of internal control; interpret and evaluate results, prepare documentation; create financial reports and/or presentations. Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize workload to meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced and dynamic work environment. Must be a perfectionist by nature, with no tolerance for financial sloppiness.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Be able to demonstrate attention to details and good record-keeping
  • Hands-on and detail oriented.
  • High level of interpersonal skills with demonstrated poise, tact, and diplomacy
  • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal, with the ability to clearly communicate issues to all levels of management.
  • At least 2-5 solid years of relevant experience (accounting operations and/or audit).
Education
  • BS in Accounting or Finance, CPA is preferred.
Salary and Apply

Salary is based upon experience but the target is $75k-90k plus a complete benefits package.
