Location: New York, NY
Position Type: Full-Time

Our client, a leading alternative asset manager with approximately $49 billion in private credit AUM, is seeking an Analyst or Associate to join its Middle Market Direct Lending team. This is an exciting opportunity to work within a rapidly growing private credit platform and gain exposure to all aspects of the direct lending investment process.

About the Team

The Middle Market Direct Lending group operates as an independent team within a multi-billion-dollar private credit platform. The team focuses on directly originated private debt investments in private equity-backed middle market companies, primarily through senior secured cash flow-based loans. They may also invest in second lien loans, junior capital, and equity co-investments. The group is in a significant growth phase, offering strong upward mobility for high-performing individuals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Participate in all aspects of evaluating, implementing, closing, and monitoring private debt investments.
  • Review and analyze new financing opportunities using data from CIMs, management presentations, and diligence materials.
  • Build detailed cash flow models to assess historical and projected performance under various scenarios.
  • Support due diligence efforts, including preparing lists, synthesizing data room materials, reviewing consultant reports, and conducting valuation analysis.
  • Assist in preparing Investment Committee materials, including investment thesis, risk analysis, and key findings.
  • Monitor existing transactions through financial reviews, modeling, industry analysis, and relationship management with borrowers and sponsors.
  • Prepare presentations for client meetings and assist with capital raising activities, including marketing materials and compliance documentation.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree required; CFA or CPA candidacy is a plus.
  • 1-3 years of experience in direct lending, private credit, leveraged finance, or private equity (middle market focus preferred).
  • Strong financial modeling and analytical skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to synthesize large data sets and communicate findings effectively.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word) and Bloomberg.
  • Self-motivated, team-oriented, and capable of managing multiple projects independently.
