Position: Investment Analyst - Manager Research / FoF
Location: New York

We are working with a global alternatives investment firm managing ~$4.7B across public and private markets, focused on backing best-in-class emerging and established alternative asset managers
. The firm partners closely with managers across private equity, private credit, and hedge funds, providing both capital and hands‑on strategic support.

The Role

This is a true manager research / allocator-style seat
. The Analyst will sit on the investment team and be deeply involved in fund due diligence, manager underwriting, portfolio monitoring, and ongoing relationship management
. You’ll work directly with senior leadership and have exposure across the full lifecycle of fund investments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead in-depth due diligence on alternative investment managers (PE, private credit, hedge funds)
  • Evaluate strategy, portfolio construction, risk management, track record, team, and firm infrastructure
  • Conduct reference checks and qualitative manager assessments
  • Source and evaluate new manager opportunities through a strong industry network
  • Support FoF, co‑investment, and selective direct investment analysis
  • Ongoing monitoring of portfolio managers, including performance analysis, risk review, and regular manager meetings
  • Prepare high‑quality investment memos, research reports, and client‑facing materials
  • Participate in investor interactions, conferences, and industry events
Requirements (Non‑Negotiable)
  • 1+ years of direct manager research / fund research experience
  • Background as an allocator or fund research professional (endowment, foundation, pension, SWF, OCIO, consultant, FoF, or alternatives platform)
  • Hands‑on experience underwriting alternative investment managers (not company‑level PE only)
  • Strong qualitative judgment paired with solid analytical and writing skills
Ideal Profile
  • Entrepreneurial, proactive, self‑starter mindset
  • Comfortable operating in a lean, high‑responsibility environment
  • Strong communicator who can engage directly with managers and institutional investors
  • Deep curiosity for alternative strategies and emerging managers

This is a high‑visibility role with direct exposure to working with the CIO, meaningful responsibility early, and long‑term growth for someone who wants to build a career in allocator‑style investing and manager selection.
