VP of Property Accounting

Our client is a real estate firm. They seek a VP of Property Accounting to join their Manhattan, NY office.

• Oversee the preparation and review of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, footnotes, and schedules to ensure GAAP compliance and timely delivery
• Coordinate audit and tax processes with external accountants, ensuring accurate and on-time audited financials and investor tax reporting
• Partner with Investor Relations to review and approve limited partner communications, including capital calls, distributions, and partner statements
• Analyze complex transactions and collaborate with the CFO, CAO, acquisitions, and asset management teams to ensure proper GAAP accounting for acquisitions and dispositions
• Evaluate property-level and portfolio analytical reports, providing variance analysis and financial insights
• Manage relationships with external fund administrators and outsourced accounting teams, resolving issues and enforcing standards and timelines
• Interpret governing documents and side letters to apply allocation mechanics, fee calculations, carried interest, and related legal terms
• Collaborate with investment, valuation committees, and asset management on quarterly asset valuations, forecasts, and budgets
• Strengthen internal controls, accounting processes, and technology through automation initiatives and policy compliance
• Lead and develop accounting staff while responding to investor and management inquiries with strategic analysis and special project support

• 7-10 years of relevant experience
• Combo or private experience
• Real estate experience is required
• Exposure to real estate funds is a plus
• Ability to multitask and manage multiple projects
