Salary: $160,000 - $175,000/annually

Location: Suffolk County, Long Island, NY (Hybrid - 4 days per week on-site)

Position Overview

Our client, a manufacturer in the food and beverage space, is seeking an experienced Controller to oversee all accounting operations, with a strong focus on cost accounting and inventory management
. This role is critical in ensuring accurate financial reporting, maintaining robust internal controls, and supporting operational efficiency in a dynamic manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Financial Management:
    • Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes.
    • Prepare and analyze financial statements in compliance with GAAP.
  • Cost & Inventory Accounting:
    • Develop and maintain standard costing systems for raw materials, labor, and overhead.
    • Monitor inventory valuation and reconcile discrepancies across production and warehouse systems.
    • Analyze variances and provide actionable insights to improve cost efficiency.
  • Budgeting & Forecasting:
    • Lead annual budgeting process and provide ongoing financial forecasts.
    • Partner with operations to track production costs and optimize margins.
  • Compliance & Controls:
    • Ensure adherence to internal controls and regulatory requirements.
    • Coordinate audits and manage relationships with external auditors.
  • Leadership:
    • Supervise accounting staff and foster a culture of accuracy and accountability.
    • Collaborate cross-functionally with operations, procurement, and senior management.
Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA preferred.
  • Experience:
    • 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 3 years in a manufacturing environment.
    • Strong background in cost accounting and inventory management
      .
    • Food & beverage industry experience highly desirable.
  • Skills:
    • Proficiency in ERP systems and advanced Excel skills.
    • Strong analytical, organizational, and leadership abilities.
    • Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a fast-paced setting.
