Assistant Controller
Our client is a global consulting firm that partners with nonprofit organizations to drive meaningful growth and long‑term impact and is seeking an Assistant Controller to join their team.
Salary and Rate$120k - $130k
Position OverviewOur client is seeking an Assistant Controller to support its expanding Finance team. This role is ideal for an experienced accountant with a background in professional services, public accounting, or corporate finance. The Assistant Controller works closely with the Controller to ensure financial accuracy, compliance with U.S. GAAP, and strong internal controls, while playing an active role in month‑end close, financial reporting, and audit preparation.
The Assistant Controller will be a hands‑on position requiring both technical accounting expertise and the ability to collaborate across departments.
- Support the Controller in maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring revenue and expenses are properly matched and reported.
- Prepare and review journal entries related to payroll, prepaid expenses, fixed assets, equity, and general ledger activity.
- Perform account reconciliations, research discrepancies, and resolve issues efficiently.
- Assist in producing monthly financial statements and variance analysis for balance sheet and income statement accounts.
- Participate in month‑end and year‑end close processes, including preparation of audit schedules.
- Coordinate with external auditors to ensure timely and accurate reporting.
- Oversee the preparation and filing of 1099s.
- Review payroll entries and provide explanations for monthly variances.
- Evaluate current accounting policies and procedures and recommend improvements.
- Assist with corporate credit card and expense reporting to ensure proper classification and compliance.
- Collaborate with HR, Payroll, and Travel & Expense teams to ensure financial accuracy.
- Contribute to special projects related to financial reporting and operational enhancements.
- Active CPA.
- 2-4 years in a supervisory role.
- Advanced Excel proficiency.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Public accounting or professional services experience.
- Experience with Net Suite.
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting is required.
