A global financial institution is seeking an Associate Trader to support its money market and short‑term funding activities. This role involves pricing fixed and floating rate instruments, managing daily liquidity, executing short‑term funding transactions, and maintaining strong operational controls. The Associate Trader will interact with market counter parties, support internal stakeholders, and ensure accurate trade capture and settlement.
DescriptionKey Responsibilities
- Price fixed and floating rate notes using swap levels, credit considerations, and yield curve dynamics.
- Price repo collateral based on issue‑specific and technical factors in the Treasury market.
- Support pricing of other short‑term instruments as needed.
- Execute short‑term funding transactions within authorized limits.
- Forecast cash positions and assess the impact of transactions on current and future liquidity.
- Maintain repo in/out ratios in line with internal limits.
- Monitor and maintain DTC clearing fund requirements to avoid breaches.
- Perform daily settlement of balances with the institution's primary bank, ensuring no overdrafts.
- Monitor credit lines for potential issues and recommend solutions to mitigate risk.
- Ensure accurate trade capture, reconciliation, and adjustments within internal systems.
- Build and maintain relationships with interbank counter parties, dealers, FICC members, MMFs, and the Federal Reserve.
- Participate in market events and meetings to strengthen external relationships.
- Gather and analyze market information and share insights with the trading team and management.
- Prepare KYC questionnaires for new counter parties in coordination with internal teams.
- Input and reconcile transactions in the trading system (e.g., Opics).
- Prepare internal tickets for loan‑related transactions and coordinate with Operations.
- Support documentation and compliance requirements for all trading activities.
- Prepare margin call documentation and internal transaction reports.
- Assist with early‑stage project work and contribute recommendations.
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, Economics, or related field.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in money markets, short‑term funding, or related trading functions.
- Knowledge of regulations applicable to traded financial products.
- Strong PC skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office.
- Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to work in a fast‑paced environment.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to build relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
