Description
We are currently seeking a Senior to join our Tax practice. Our Tax Practice provides clients with tax guidance and planning as the industries are faced with many evolving issues, including challenging markets, tax changes and heightened expectations from stakeholders, as well as legislative analysis in the area of tax policy. Our people work on key client issues in federal and state taxation, with a focus on implementing tax strategies that align with the client's business objectives;
corporate tax; pass-through entities; S corporations; non-profits; employee benefit plans; high net worth individuals; and industry focus.
Responsibilities
- Tax return preparation and review –
- prepare and review federal, state and local tax returns for various entities, including 1065, 1120, 1120-S, 1040, 1041, 990 and 5500, etc. as well as associated extensions and estimated tax payments.
- Prepare and review the international forms (ex. FINCEN 114, 926, 8865, 5471 and 8621, etc.)
- Tax research – conduct tax research using professional tools like CCH and RIA Checkpoint to analyze a wide range of tax issues and law changes, draft explanation/supporting memos as needed.
- Client management – serve as primary point of contact to gather information, resolve issues, and communicate engagement progress to establish a trusted advisor relationship with clients.
- Supervision and mentoring - assist the management team to oversee the engagement economic such as budgets and billings, and train tax staff and intern by reviewing their work for accuracy and completeness and providing guidance & feedback.
- Audit and inquiry response – respond to inquiries and correspondence from tax authorities like the IRS and state agencies.
Qualifications
- Undergraduate or graduate degree in accounting or taxation with sufficient course work to achieve CPA certification upon passing the examination or possess a CPA license
- At minimum 2-5 years of related tax experience within a public accounting firm in industries such as financial services.
- Broad exposure to federal income taxation and some exposure to state and local tax
- Experience with corporate tax; high net worth individuals and pass-through entities
- Excellent project management skills
- Advanced written and verbal communication skills
- Integrity within a professional environment
The successful candidate must assume enough credits and/or actively pursuing the appropriate credits for the CPA examination.
