Job Summary:Lead in the consolidated tax reporting, accounting and analysis, under both US GAAP and IFRS and tax regulatory reporting requirements.
Job Duties- Preparation of consolidated quarterly, annual and periodic US GAAP and IFRS tax reporting schedules and disclosures for financial statement reporting.
- Continuous monitoring of tax laws relevant to the Company’s jurisdictions and analyzing the potential impact to financial reporting.
- Review of tax provisions prepared internally by local teams or by external tax consultants.
- Liaise with local teams regarding local tax filings as needed.
- Liaise with Fairfax (head office) and other Fairfax affiliates on tax filings or reporting needs.
- Monitor and analyze any uncertain tax positions.
- Maintain tax controls and process documentation and liaise with external and internal auditors.
- Maintain tax accounting policies.
- Accounting certification (CA, CMA or CPA).
- Bachelor’s Degree in economics or finance.
- 4-6 years’ experience in public reporting for insurance and/or reinsurance companies (preferably with a focus on tax accounting).
- Knowledgeable and demonstrated experience in GAAP and IFRS tax accounting standards (ASC 740 and IAS
7). - Deep knowledge and practical experience implementing BEPS Pillar 2.
- Deep understanding of US business tax law and Bermuda CIT tax law.
- Practical experience in tax efficient structuring for an insurance company with global operations.
- Has experience putting together tax provisions.
- Detailed knowledge of SOX 404 and experience maintaining a robust controls environment.
- Excellent proven communication, management and interpersonal skills.
- Advanced level EXCEL skills.
- Demonstrated excellence in written communication.
$112,500 - $150,000
The annualized base pay range is a broad range based on analysis of similar positions in the market. The actual base pay for the position may be above or below the listed range and determined by a number of considerations, including but not limited to complexity, location, and scope of the role, along with experience, skills, education, training, and other conditions of employment.
Base salary represents one component of Allied World’s comprehensive total reward package, which may also include annual incentive compensation rewards.
