CMA is a New York based investment banking and turnaround & restructuring firm bringing decades of transaction, financial, and operational expertise to complex situations. We advise management teams, boards, lenders and investors across restructurings, turnarounds, special situations and distressed transactions.
Role SummaryThe Vice President / Director is a senior execution role responsible for leading substantial portions of client engagements and serving as a key point of leverage for Partners and Managing Directors. This role carries meaningful responsibility for workstream ownership, client interaction, team leadership and the quality of CMA’s deliverables. Candidates at this level are expected to demonstrate the potential to be long‑term senior professionals at the firm, with increasing responsibility for engagement execution, junior staff development and firm initiatives.
EngagementExecution & Ownership
Own key work streams on restructuring, turnaround and special situations engagements with minimal oversight.
- Take full responsibility for the review, development and accuracy of: 13‑week cash flow forecasts, integrated 3‑statement financial models, liquidity, covenant and scenario analyses.
- Provide independent analysis, insight and conclusions rather than purely executional output.
- Ensure analytical rigor, consistency and credibility across all work product.
- Serve as a day‑to‑day point of contact on client engagements, with increasing responsibility for client communications.
- Participate actively in client, lender and stakeholder meetings with the ability to speak fluently on areas of ownership (e.g. liquidity, projections, restructuring considerations).
- Own significant portions of client presentations and written deliverables, including board materials, lender updates and transaction documents.
- Communicate complex analysis clearly and concisely to senior decision makers.
- Direct, mentor and review work produced by Analysts and Associates.
- Set expectations, provide feedback and help develop junior talent consistent with CMA standards.
- Coordinate junior resources across multiple work streams and deadlines.
- Demonstrate leadership through professionalism, judgment, responsiveness and ownership.
- Contribute thoughtful perspectives on strategic options and restructuring alternatives.
- Develop industry or functional expertise over time.
- Take responsibility for at least one internal firm initiative or process (e.g. research, staffing support, knowledge development).
- Actively participate in firm marketing efforts and begin building an external relationship network.
- BA or BS in Accounting, Finance, Economics or related field.
- 6–10+ years of relevant experience in restructuring, turnaround consulting, investment banking, special situations or financial advisory.
- Strong command of financial modeling, liquidity analysis and distressed situations.
- Proven ability to manage multiple work streams in fast‑moving, high‑pressure environments.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with a professional client presence.
- Advanced degrees and professional certifications (MBA, CPA, CFA, etc.) valued but not required.
