The Controller is responsible for leading the accounting function of the finance team, directly supervising two accountants, and providing accounting leadership and direction for Proteus Fund and Proteus Action League (PAL). The Controller will be responsible for maintaining and continuously improving the system of financial controls, including general accounting, audit, tax compliance, and banking. This individual will respond quickly and with sound judgment to a variety of situations in a fast-paced environment and handle sensitive information in a professional manner.

The Controller advises the CFO on all significant accounting and reporting matters, and partners with other leadership to develop and implement sound accounting procedures across the organization.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Oversee the activities of the finance department to ensure the accurate and timely dissemination of financial reports including, but not limited to, internal and external financial statements
• Oversee activities to ensure the accurate and timely processing of accounts payable, accounts receivable, and cash controls
• Partner with CFO to design, implement, and update financial systems and processes to optimize alignment with financial policies and procedures, streamline work, and create efficiencies
• Develop accounting procedures and documentation that align with established policies to ensure the accuracy and integrity of complex financial records
• Manage the general ledger and financial systems
• Manage monthly and annual closing process
• Develop and provide financial education and tools to support all staff
