About the Opportunity
A premier global wealth management institution is seeking a Director of
Mutual Fund and Alternative Investment Operations to lead all aspects of its Mutual Fund and Alternatives platform within U.S. Wealth Management. This is a high-visibility leadership role with full responsibility for both day-to-day operational excellence and the multi-year strategic expansion of the firm’s Alternative Investment product line
—a key pillar in its UHNW growth strategy.
You’ll lead a large, diverse team, partner with senior executives across business, product, and technology, and serve as the firm’s operational face to industry peers and counter parties. This is an opportunity to build scale, efficiency, and innovation into one of the fastest-growing areas of the platform.
What You’ll DoLead a 20+ person operations organization managing front-to-back processing across mutual funds and alternative investment products.
Oversee all production and change management functions including trade processing, settlements, controls, and service delivery.
Drive the strategic expansion of the Alternative Investment business
, aligning operational processes, systems, and controls to support UHNW advisor and client growth.Serve as the firm’s senior subject matter expert and escalation point for complex mutual fund and alternative product issues.
Partner closely with Product, Technology, Compliance, Legal, and Finance to design scalable operating models and risk frameworks.
Chair the Alternative Investment Working Group
, leading efficiency and transformation initiatives across the platform.Represent the firm at key industry forums (ICI, NICSA, SIFMA) and maintain strong relationships with fund sponsors, custodians, and vendors.
Oversee financial ledgers, reconciliation controls, and regulatory reporting
, ensuring adherence to all internal and external standards.Develop, mentor, and retain high-performing talent; drive engagement, succession planning, and professional growth across the team.
Manage department budgets, financial forecasts, staffing plans, and key operational metrics.
Champion automation, workflow optimization, and modernization of systems to enhance accuracy and capacity.
Ensure full compliance with FINRA, SEC, and internal policies
, maintaining a proactive risk management culture.
10+ years of experience in wealth management or broker-dealer operations
, including 5+ years overseeing mutual fund and alternative investment operations.Proven track record leading large, complex teams and executing large-scale transformation.
Deep understanding of alternative investment operations (private equity, hedge funds, private credit, real assets) and fund processing workflows.
Strong working knowledge of brokerage operations, vendor management, custody, and accounting systems.
Exceptional leadership and communication skills with the ability to partner across business, operations, and technology.
FINRA SIE and Series 99 required;
Series 7, MBA, CPA, or CFA preferred.Strategic mindset with the ability to balance day-to-day execution and long-term growth planning.
Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills; adept at driving control improvements and managing change.
Lead a mission-critical operation central to the firm’s UHNW growth strategy.
Shape the next generation of Alternative Investment infrastructure for one of the most respected wealth platforms in the industry.
