STATEMENT OF THE JOB

Under the supervision of the Assistant Budget Director I, the Budget Analyst I is responsible for the financial management of assigned programs and contracts. The Budget Analyst I provides quarterly versus actual reports with an explanation of variances and submits timely budget modifications. The Budget Analyst I will adhere to and support the Agency’s mission, vision, and code of ethics, policies, and practices.

  • Submits accurate and timely claim(s) to funding sources.
  • Provides quarterly budget versus actual reports with an explanation of variances.
  • Maintains contract files, budget files, and funding source correspondences.
  • Reconciles and performs grant closeout functions required by contract administration and sponsors; performs budget modifications as needed.
  • Monitors program expenses and revenue billings against approved budget and develops budget modifications if necessary.
  • Ensures all requirements by contract administration and funders are met during the grant closeout process, including submitting quarterly, semi‑annual, or annual reports.
  • Collaborates with program staff to forecast budgets.
  • Compiles and analyzes accounting records and other data to determine the financial resources required to implement a program.
  • Prepares ad‑hoc reports for budget analysis.
  • Ensures adherence to guidelines and policies as well as monitors the financial and programmatic status of assigned accounts.
  • Prepares schedules and reconciliations as required for the program and annual audit.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years of related experience; financial management experience preferred.
  • Working knowledge of programmatic and fiscal requirements of a wide variety of public funding sources and regulatory agencies.
  • Mastery of Excel spreadsheet development, manipulation, and ability to learn the accounting software (currently Netsuite) is essential.
  • Ability to travel to multiple locations within the five boroughs as needed.
  • Must be able to occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
