Direct Alternative Investments Due Diligence and Research Specialist (NY, New York City)

This role encompasses ongoing oversight on primary PE fund investments, direct deals and co-investments for our Family Office Group. This includes continuous analysis and reporting for our most sophisticated client’s alternative investment portfolios which may include exposure to a broad array of strategies including but not limited to private equity, venture capital, private credit, real assets, direct deals and co-investments. This role will include, onsite manager due diligence meetings, fund Annual General Meetings (AGMs), shareholder meetings as well as regular due diligence screening calls for client sourced deal flow.

The role may also include some operations related to the portfolio.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and analyze performance of direct deals, co-investments, and alternative fund investments across private equity, venture capital, private credit, real assets, and other private markets strategies.
  • Portfolio oversight – Produce high-quality reporting, analytics and insights for client consumption, internal investment committee and family office group
  • Maintain performance and documentation to support ongoing monitoring
  • Participate in manager meetings, company update calls, AGMs, and relevant industry conferences
  • Track key company and fund-level developments, financial performance, capital calls/distributions and valuation updates
  • Support the development of materials for client reviews, portfolio analyses, and internal diligence memos
  • Collaborate with operations and client service teams on data accuracy, cash flow tracking and alternative investment administration
  • Regular dialogue with select clients in partnership with Advisor and Research team

Skills &

Qualifications:

  • 5-10 years of relevant investment experience within private markets, family office, fund of funds or institutional allocator environment
  • CAIA or CFA Preferred
  • Strong knowledge of private markets including individual asset classes/strategies, direct deals and co-investments
  • Exceptional analytical and financial modeling skills; ability to interpret complex data and draw meaningful insights
  • Strong written skills and verbal communication
  • Strong interpersonal and presentation skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Comfort working with senior investment professionals, portfolio company management teams and fund managers
  • Proficiency with Excel, PowerPoint and portfolio analytics tools

Salary: $200,000 – $300,000 annually, based on experience.
