Financial Controller

We’re looking for an experienced and highly motivated Financial Controller to join this luxury hotel property in the North East on a 12-month contract . Reporting directly to the CEO and General Manager, you will play a central role in maintaining financial integrity, supporting strategic decision‑making, and leading the finance function through day‑to‑day operations.

• Prepare and analyse monthly management accounts
• Reconcile control and balance sheet accounts
• Oversee cashflow, banking, BACS payments, and VAT compliance
• Deliver weekly financial reports to the management team
• Ensure accurate preparation and posting of journals for accounting period close
• Review weekly payroll to ensure accuracy
• Prepare and submit all statutory taxes in line with regulations
• Provide financial and analytical support across operational teams
• Manage external providers, including audit and other advisory services
• Lead, support, and mentor a finance team of four
• Carry out ad‑hoc financial tasks as needed

• Fully qualified ACA/ACCA with post‑qualification experience
• Previous experience in the hotel / hospitality industry
• Confident taking ownership of a broad range of responsibilities
• Strong working knowledge of accounting software and excellent IT skills
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
• Meticulous attention to detail with strong problem‑solving ability
• Proven experience managing and developing a team
