Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Controller to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing the accounting department, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and providing accurate financial reporting. This role requires a strong understanding of financial management principles, GAAP standards, and a commitment to maintaining the integrity of financial records. The Controller reports directly to the CEO, CFO, and GM, playing a key role in aligning financial management with both strategic and operational goals.

Our industry is construction, specifically civil site development and underground utility work. Any experience that is related or transferable to our industry will be highly preferred.

Responsibilities
  • Oversee daily accounting operations and manage the accounting team.
  • Ensure timely and accurate regulatory reporting in compliance with applicable laws.
  • Perform bank reconciliations and account analysis to maintain financial accuracy.
  • Conduct cash flow analysis to support financial decision‑making.
  • Prepare and review monthly financial statements and reports.
  • Conduct general ledger reconciliation to ensure all accounts are accurate and up‑to‑date.
  • Collaborate with other departments to support financial planning and budgeting initiatives.
  • Mentor and train staff on accounting best practices and financial concepts.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or CMA certification preferred.
  • Proven experience in an accounting management role or similar position.
  • Strong knowledge of regulatory reporting requirements and practices.
  • Proficiency in bank reconciliation, account analysis, and cash flow analysis.
  • Familiarity with GAAP principles and financial management concepts.
  • Excellent analytical skills with attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment while managing multiple priorities.

Job Type: Full‑time, exempt.
