ATG Entertainment is seeking a dynamic Director of Labor Relations for our North American Theatres.

The successful candidate will possess an in-depth knowledge of Broadway and regional Unions, associated work rules, and have experience working with union members. They will participate and represent ATG Entertainment’s Broadway Theatres at Union Negotiations through the Broadway League and join relevant committees. In so much as it relates to union employees and labor laws and practices, they will play an active role in all aspects of the venue’s operation, including preparatory periods for incoming shows.

Additionally, they will deal with labor disputes and play a role in mediating and resolving grievances as they arise. This is a critical role, and the postholder must be able to confidently navigate the complexities of labor laws and union negotiations in a way that aligns organizational goals with employee interests, labor laws, and industry best practice.

PEOPLE, PLACES, and THINGS
  • Play a leading role amongst industry peers in representing ATG’s position as a major operator, doing so with credibility and professionalism.
  • Proactively develop, implement and ensure the ongoing management of labor relations strategies that align with ATG’s business and operational goals, and protect the long-term interests of the organisation.
  • Participate in negotiations for collective bargaining agreements with key Broadway and regional unions, including Actors’ Equity Association (AEA), the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees (IATSE), the American Federation of Musicians (AFM), and others.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between producers, theatre owners, and unions to address contract compliance, grievances, and workplace disputes.
  • Advise executive leadership on labor-related issues, including workforce planning, contract interpretation, and compliance with federal and state labor laws.
  • Monitor industry trends, labor legislation, and economic factors that may impact negotiations and workforce relations, providing insight to senior leadership to inform organizational policy.
  • Work closely with general managers, legal teams, and production executives to ensure smooth labor relations across all productions and to enhance understanding and compliance of the issues at hand
  • Represent the organization in labor arbitration, mediation, and dispute resolution proceedings when necessary
EXPERIENCE and SKILLS
  • Deep understanding and knowledge of Broadway and regional Union contracts is a must.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • A minimum of 5 years working in a unionized environment (IATSE a plus)
  • A working knowledge of industry terms
  • Experience interpreting and communicating terms in a collective bargaining environment
