You are a Mechanical Engineering student going into your Junior or Senior year, looking for experience and exposure in building mechanics, energy systems and performance.
What you will do…At Ecosystem, you won’t work on standard projects with off-the-shelf solutions. You’ll take on existing, energy‑intensive, and complex buildings, designed at a time when energy was inexpensive. Every mandate is unique and requires critical thinking, creativity, and resourcefulness.
You will be involved during the implementation phase of a commercial project; the Ventas - Battery Park City part of a multidisciplinary and innovative team of technical engineers responsible for the success of multimillion-dollar projects.
More specifically you will:
- Ensure compliance with health and safety best practices on construction sites.
- Collaborate with design and construction engineers during the planning and execution of energy efficiency projects.
- Execute retrofits in occupied buildings and help supervise the work site.
- Embrace the challenge of keeping a building operational while greatly reducing their energy usage.
- Participate in meetings and communicate with clients, contractors, internal project team and other stakeholders (all in different ways but often in the same day) to coordinate, resolve issues and ensure smooth project implementation.
- Collaborate in the procurement and management of supplier and subcontractor work packages.
- Assist with project scheduling and risk assessments.
- Assist in budget analysis, cost and margin projections, estimate project changes & impacts, etc.
- Mechanical engineering student entering your junior or senior year.
- Curiosity about bringing a project from drawing board to real life.
- Interest in HVAC and energy system performance.
- Effective collaboration with team members, clients, and stakeholders is essential.
- While not required, any previous experience in engineering or construction-related fields is a definite plus.
- Able to travel to and work on-site daily and as needed.
- 4-6 month month paid internship in the Summer of 2026.
- Hourly wage ranging from $18 to $25, based on relevant internships completed and years of study completed.
- 40-hour week.
- Laptop, work uniform, boots, helmet, safety glasses and other personal safety equipment will be provided by Ecosystem.

- Lunches onsite and mileage to and from the job site are reimbursed by Ecosystem.
