Location: New York
Total compensation: TBC - dependent on seniority, performance and expectations - expected range $250k-400k
We're partnered with a global systematic trading firm who are hiring for a Senior Linux Operations Engineer to support and enhance a global, high-performance Linux infrastructure that powers advanced research and real-time production platforms.
This is an opportunity to work in a fast-paced, technology-driven environment where stability, performance and automation are critical.
You’ll play a key role in ensuring mission-critical systems operate reliably while continuously improving tooling and processes.
What You’ll DoAs part of the Infrastructure Operations team, you will:
- Administer, support and upgrade Linux-based production and research systems
- Manage full lifecycle server deployments (hardware installation through OS build)
- Collaborate with engineering teams on automation and monitoring initiatives
- Troubleshoot system incidents and conduct root cause analysis
- Improve reliability, scalability and operational processes
- Contribute to documentation and knowledge sharing across teams
- Participate in an on‑call rotation (primarily remote) and occasional out‑of‑hours support
This role combines hands‑on systems engineering with proactive automation and continuous improvement. You’ll work closely with engineering teams and end users in a high‑performance computing environment.
What We’re Looking For- 5+ YoE
- Strong Linux administration experience (e.g. Red Hat, CentOS or similar)
- Experience deploying and configuring physical servers end‑to‑end
- Knowledge of modern server hardware (AMD/Intel architectures)
- Understanding of networking fundamentals (TCP/UDP, LAN/WAN)
- Experience with automation tools such as Ansible
- Scripting skills (Python and/or Bash)
- Exposure to NFS or SAN storage systems (beneficial but not essential)
