Overview

Con Edison, a multibillion‑dollar energy utility, is leading the clean energy transition in New York City and Westchester County. We invest hundreds of millions of dollars annually to integrate distributed resources into our electric and gas systems, support electric vehicle charging infrastructure, and scale adoption of energy efficiency and clean heating technologies across our customers.

Con Edison’s Non‑Pipes Alternative (NPA) team identifies, develops and operates building electrification and energy efficiency programs that defer or eliminate the need for investment in traditional natural gas infrastructure solutions. These programs provide environmental and economic benefits to Con Edison’s electric and gas distribution systems. The team manages several NPA programs including Electric Advantage, Energy Exchange, and Area Load Relief.

The NPA Strategy Team is seeking to hire a senior specialist. The team oversees strategy and stakeholder engagement for the Company’s suite of NPA programs. The Non‑Pipes Alternatives Sr. Specialist will connect engineering, operations, and policy so New Yorkers can reduce carbon emissions where it’s needed most. Your work will turn stakeholder feedback and operational insights into practical changes to make building decarbonization simpler for customers.

This is an exciting role to demonstrate your abilities to drive results, apply cross‑disciplinary skills to decarbonize the building sector, and gain firsthand experience with the clean energy transition.

Responsibilities
  • Identify, develop, and support the operation of NPA programs and projects by considering the implementation of customer solutions (e.g. heat pump and energy efficiency).
  • Turn analysis into outcomes — study building electrification policy, technology, processes, costs, trends, and customer pain points. Synthesize and analyze utility infrastructure data, customer account/billing data, and publicly available building data. Recommend policies/processes/programs that increase participation in NPA programs and improve customer experience.
  • Support collaboration with stakeholders to advance policy goals and align business priorities. Engage with customers and contractors, Department of Public Service (DPS) staff, NYSERDA, Joint Utilities (JU), and other stakeholders; turn feedback into actionable updates to program design and procedures.
  • Support development of and utilize financial and benefit cost analysis models to understand business impacts and inform program design.
  • Support all regulatory aspects of the NPA programs including writing regulatory filings such as the NPA Implementation Plan, Benefit‑Cost Analysis Summaries, and Annual Reports.
  • Monitor, analyze, and report on program performance and status to internal and external stakeholders, including senior management.
  • Commit to the ideals of developing a proactive, customer‑centric culture to foster trust and confidence among customers (both internal and external) and improve value for all our stakeholders.
  • Ensure that safe work practices are followed, and the environment is fully protected in accordance with Company policy and governmental regulations.
  • Perform other related tasks and assignments as required.
