OverviewTRC is seeking a licensed New York State Professional Engineer (PE) with 15+ years of experience in environmental remediation system design to lead and grow our engineering discipline within the Engineering, Construction, and Remediation Practice in New York State.
The ideal candidate is a senior remediation engineer with recent, hands‑on experience delivering remedial design and construction‑phase services under New York State regulatory programs, including direct interface with the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYSDEC).
This individual will serve as technical leader, client‑facing principal, and engineering discipline lead for complex remediation projects across New York State.
Responsibilities- Serve as Principal Engineer and senior technical authority for remediation system design in New York State.
- Lead remedial investigations (RI), feasibility studies (FS), remedial design (RD), and remedial action (RA) efforts under NYSDEC regulatory programs.
- Direct complex, publicly bid remediation projects, ensuring performance against scope, budget, schedule, quality, and regulatory expectations.
- Interpret geological, hydrogeological, chemical and engineering data to develop defensible remediation strategies and cost‑effective engineered solutions.
- Design and oversee implementation of remediation systems including:
- Soil vapor extraction (SVE) / air sparging
- Pump and treat systems
- In‑situ chemical/biological treatment
- Sediment remediation (capping/dredging)
- Excavation and multi‑media remedies
- Serve as primary technical liaison with NYSDEC and other state/local regulatory agencies.
- Author and provide executive‑level review of technical reports, engineering designs, remedial action work plans, and publicly bid construction documents, ensuring defensible technical quality and regulatory compliance.
- Lead and mentor multi‑disciplinary engineering teams, fostering technical excellence and professional development.
- Support strategic business development initiatives, including proposal development, client relationship management, and strategic growth initiatives in New York.
- Identify and implement innovative, technology‑based solutions to enhance performance, regulatory compliance, and cost efficiency.
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, Chemical Engineering or a closely related ABET‑accredited engineering field.
- Active New York State Professional Engineer (PE) license (required).
- 15+ years of progressive experience in remediation engineering design, including 10+ years leading client relationships and large‑scale remediation programs in New York State.
- Demonstrated recent experience delivering remedial design projects under NYSDEC regulatory programs.
- Experience in preparing publicly bid engineering design packages in New York.
- Expertise in remedial technologies including excavation, sediment capping/dredging, in‑situ treatment, pump and treat, soil vapor extraction/air sparging, etc.
- Proven leadership of multi‑disciplinary teams on medium‑to‑large remediation projects.
