About the Team & Mission
Con Edison is accelerating New Yorks clean energy transition by helping customers and developers connect solar, storage, and emerging distributed generation (DG) technologies to the grid safely, quickly, and DG Group is the single front door for interconnection and the glue across Engineering, Energy Services, and Customer Operations. Our goal is a smooth, transparent, best-in-class customer experience that gets clean energy projects energized faster with fewer surpriseswhile maintaining system reliability and meeting all regulatory requirements.
Role OverviewThe Distributed Generation Technical Coordination & Technology Integration Manager owns the technical aspects of the customer experience for DG interconnection performance across engineering interfaces, tool and data governance, and technical standards enablement. You will set direction and drive cross-organization alignment across Distribution Engineering, DG customer operations, IT, and program teams to resolve technical bottlenecks, and operationalize technical requirements (including FERC Order 2222).
You are accountable for technical working group outcomes, technical standard operating procedures and standard practices rollout, and technical program mechanisms that reduce cost and accelerate interconnection timelines.
- Serve as the Distributed Generation teams primary Distribution Engineering liaison, owning the operating rhythm and escalation pathways to resolve complex technical interconnection issues.
- Coordinate with engineering teams and DG customer operations on project technical challenges and opportunities; ensure timely decisions, clear ownership, and measurable reductions in rework and delay.
- Drive collaboration with engineering teams and developers on new technical solutions to lower cost and/or speed interconnection, supporting translation of lessons learned into scalable standards, tools, and controls.
- Own the technical governance and execution approach for material modifications, ensuring consistent technical review, documentation, and downstream operational readiness.
- Lead reconciliation efforts after project completion, ensuring technical closeout consistency and that lessons learned flow back into engineering practices, tools, and standard operating procedures.
- Partner with IT Tools/Data Governance & Analytics counterparts as needed to support the development and enhancement of interconnection IT tools (e.g., interconnection portal, hosting capacity map, tracking dashboards), with a focus on operationalizing technical enhancements that impact the integration of new distributed generation.
- Provide technical coordination and implementation support for tool and data enhancements that affect interconnection operations and cross-functional stakeholders (e.g., Engineering), including support for requirements translation, process alignment, testing, and rollout readiness.
- Support data governance and analytics activities, as needed, for interconnection technical datasets, including data definitions, validation logic, issue tracking, and documentation to promote data quality and operational consistency.
- Coordinate with IT teams, vendors, and business stakeholders to support implementation of enhancements that reduce operational burden, improve transparency, and strengthen data integrity across interconnection-related processes.
- Support user acceptance testing (UAT), release readiness, and post-deployment operationalization of tool and data changes, including coordination with impacted teams to support adoption and continuity of operations.
- Serve as the Company's primary representative to the interconnection technical working group (ITWG), setting agenda, scope, decision rights, and deliverables, and drive cross-functional alignment across engineering, operations, IT, and program teams.
- Convert technical working group outputs into executable implementation plans, including standard operating procedure updates, tool changes, training needs, and measurable performance outcomes.
- Mentor and guide technical specialists supporting working group analysis, documentation, and implementation tracking.
- Establish FERC Order 2222 technical requirements and implementation mechanisms to support aggregator participation, coordinating telemetry/control requirements and distribution system reliability needs with appropriate internal stakeholders.
- Ensure technical requirements are operationalized through tools, data, standard operating procedures, and internal controlsso execution is consistent, scalable, and auditable.
- Lead technical standard operating procedure preparation, process mapping, and standard practices rollouts; operationalize technical/regulatory/legal interpretation into consistent field- and office-ready execution practices.
- Drive change management for technical process updates, ensuring clear roles and controls across engineering, operations, and IT interfaces.
- Establish performance metrics…
