Fortune favors the bold. Ace Hotel Brooklyn is seeking a highly qualified Director of Engineering with proven experience in leading hotel operations to lead our Building Operations & Engineering function.
Ace Hotel located in Boerum Hill, sits at the intersection of neighborhood energy and creative culture — where tree lined brownstone streets meet the pulse of Downtown Brooklyn.
About the RoleThe Director of Engineering oversees the maintenance and performance of the entire hotel facility, including:
- Physical building structure
- Mechanical & HVAC systems
- Electrical systems
- Fire Life Safety systems
- Preventive maintenance & energy management
- Maintain safe, efficient operation of all building systems
- Ensure compliance with applicable codes & regulations
- Maintain expert knowledge of electrical, mechanical & HVAC systems
- Lead preventive maintenance & energy conservation programs
- Proactively monitor critical infrastructure & risk areas
- Oversee Fire Life & Safety Director program
- Conduct regular safety & building inspections
- Prepare for regulatory inspections & certifications
- Document risks, deficiencies & corrective actions
- Partner with Security & leadership on emergency preparedness
- Lead Engineering & Property Operations teams
- Collaborate with Housekeeping & Operations
- Forecast repairs, maintenance & capital projects
- Adhere to corporate purchasing & bid procedures
- Minimum 5 years Engineering leadership experience
- Prior hotel experience is required
- College degree in Engineering or related field
- Certifications/licenses as required by law
- Strong knowledge of Electrical systems , HVAC & mechanical systems, Building systems & codes , Fire Life Safety systems
- First Aid / CPR / AED training
- Budgeting & analytical abilities
- Ability to lead teams & external vendors
- Technologically proficient (Microsoft Office Google)
