Geotechnical Engineer (New York, NY)

• Use and manage subsurface information database systems.
• Observe construction works and geotechnical investigations.
• Log and describe properties of geological (soil and rock) materials to aid design and construction works.
• Prepare laboratory test schedules.
• Interpret subsurface conditions and understand their impact on design and construction.
• Manage drilling geotechnical subcontractors and their contracts.
• Perform calculations for shallow and deep foundation design, slope stability, retaining wall design, and seismic assessments.
• Support the completion of temporary support‑of‑excavation designs, including for basements, shafts, and cut‑and‑cover tunnels, and subway stations.
• Conduct preliminary ground movement predictions, hydrogeological impact, and building damage assessments.
• Collaborate in multidisciplinary teams (structural, civil, bridges, and civil structures) on designs for subsurface elements.
• Prepare technical reports and notes, including geotechnical engineering recommendations.
• Observe the installation of subsurface elements during construction.
• Requires Bachelor’s degree plus 5 years of experience.
• Engineer in Training (EIT) certification or Professional Engineer (PE) license from any state required.
