Project Manager (Transit Market Sector)

HDR is seeking a highly motivated Transit Project Manager to support HDR’s Transit Market Sector. This position will provide project management and technical services to Transit agency clients, pursuing, managing, and delivering rail/transit projects. Strong management skills and the ability to work with different facets of rail and public agency staff and capital projects are required.

Primary Duties
  • Take responsibility for all aspects of client and design‑team management of commuter and rail transit projects.
  • Plan, direct, supervise, and monitor all aspects of multidisciplinary projects with a high degree of technical complexity and involving a large project staff; manage the assembly of design, plans, specifications, construction estimate packages, and other deliverables.
  • Produce and coordinate several projects concurrently.
  • Serve as Project Manager on small, medium, and large transportation projects.
  • Serve as a point of contact between the client and HDR and help enhance client relationships, participating in contractual, design, and production meetings.
  • Participate in proposal development and other marketing activities as a seller‑doer pursuit champion or support role.
  • Implement QA/QC procedures and perform detailed QC reviews of transit projects.
  • Coordinate staffing and workload with the Transit Market Sector Leader and other area managers to complete deliverables on schedule.
  • Supervise project staff, mentor less‑experienced Project Managers, and execute training for personnel.
  • Perform other duties as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Minimum 10 years of experience within the Transit/rail engineering industry and managing multidisciplinary railway projects and teams in office and field environments.
  • Construction inspection or construction management experience.
  • Knowledge of FTA and transit project engineering requirements.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
  • Ability to manage large Transit Program/Projects and handle multiple assignments.
  • Ability to travel for client meetings, site visits, field assessments, and construction management, as required.
  • Demonstrated experience using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Project), engineering software (AutoCAD, Micro Station, Open Roads/Open Rail), estimating and scheduling software (Primavera P3 or Sure Trak), and project management software (Prolog).
