The Sustainability Coordinator’s role is to provide support to the project teams and the Sustainability Manager. The Sustainability Manager oversees JRM Sustainability and the integration of client sustainability and wellness requirements into the construction process. The Sustainability Coordinator will support multiple projects from the main office. Assignments are determined based on current project needs. There is potential for additional tasks and responsibilities, shared with other team members, based on project workload requirements and individual bandwidth.
Responsibilities- Understand project sustainability and/or wellness goals – per LEED, WELL, LBC, Fitwel or client requirements.
- Act as primary internal contact for projects with sustainability or wellness requirements – schedule check in meetings, respond to field team requests for information, etc.
- Attend project meetings focused on sustainability / wellness. Take notes, assign tasks to team members, and lead meetings, as needed.
- Assist the field team in creating project specific construction phase plans (ex: Construction Waste Management Plan).
- Set up file organization structure for the efficient collection / submission of monthly reports and other documentation by the field team.
- Review monthly reports produced by field team, request corrective action and/or additional information, as needed.
- Track timeliness of documentation such that compliance is determined prior to the approval, purchase, and installation of materials. Assist with the review / revision of materials documentation for compliance, as needed. Interface with subcontractors, as needed.
- Review project status with Sustainability Manager on a bi-weekly basis.
- Review final project documentation for accuracy, completeness, and validity prior to submission to USGBC, IWBI, ILFI or Fitwel for certification.
- Assist in developing resources to launch sustainability and wellness projects and provide tools for tracking progress towards project goals.
- Support the development and implementation of internal sustainability initiatives.
- Travel to various projects, as required.
- An undergraduate four-year degree in engineering, environmental science/policy, construction management, architecture, or other related fields is required; and 1+ years of full-time professional experience is preferred.
- 1+ years of experience in a building related field, preferably in sustainability.
- Strong project management and time management skills.
- High level understanding of renewable energy technologies and sustainable design as applied to residential and commercial construction.
- Excellent communication skills – oral, written, and presentation.
- Excellent interpersonal relationship skills.
- Knowledge of and experience with the building delivery process.
- LEED Green Associate required; LEED AP accreditation preferred.
- Required:
Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook) - Preferred: LEED Online, WELL Online, Green Badger, EC3, Various material databases for sustainability documentation
- To the extent this role is performed in New York City, the salary range for this role is $80,000 - $100,000.
