The New York Independent System Operator (NYISO) manages the efficient flow of electricity on more than 11,000 circuit-miles of high-voltage transmission lines, dispatching power from hundreds of generating units across the state.
The New York Independent System Operator (NYISO) works to make the power grid smarter by developing and deploying innovative information technology solutions to meet New York's dynamic energy needs.
The NYISO's Operations department invites applications for a full-time Power Systems Application Engineer.
The Power Systems Application Engineer will update and maintain the electric power system model used by the Energy Management System (EMS), Business Management System (BMS), Outage Scheduling System (OUS), Dispatcher Training Simulator (DTS) and the Transmission Congestion Contract (TCC) applications. Provide support in maintaining all SCADA/EMS advanced applications such as State Estimator (SE) and Security Analysis (SA). Provide support in defining and maintaining all the ICCP links and measurement data in Ranger SCADA system, which are required for all EMS and BMS applications.
Maintain and support the new control center video wall, side wall visualization displays, and all hand drawn station one-line diagrams along with tabular displays. Also provide support in updating and maintaining the Power System Explorer/Data Engineering (PSE/DE) Tool software. Develop and apply a working knowledge of the New York State high voltage transmission system and the network model database software to support the NYISO market and security functions.
Support the real-time power system analysis, primarily the estate estimator and contingency analysis functions. Support and maintain Phasor Measurement Units (PMU) data. and all hand drawn station one-line diagrams
