This role is for a skilled mechanical engineer. It will involve leading the design, manufacturing and testing of electromechanical assemblies including robotic joints.
The engineer will take responsibility for projects from the definition of requirements through to completion and integration into the system. The ideal candidate has extensive experience in precision mechanisms, actuation and power transmission for robotics.
You will be working alongside a multidisciplinary research and design team to design and build hardware for the next generation of medical imaging. You will have the opportunity to build and lead a team of mechanical and electrical engineers.
The hardware you will develop will be used in the next generation of medical imaging technology, improving a procedure that is performed tens of millions of times per year worldwide.
Required Skills and Experience- 3D Modeling of parts and assemblies using Solidworks
- Designing parts and assemblies for manufacturability
- Static Structural Simulation of Parts and Assemblies
- B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Biomedical Engineering or a related field
- Minimum 8 years post-graduate experience
- Preferred:
Experience developing medical robotic systems, including experience with risk management per ISO 14971 and design per IEC 60601-1
- Lead the mechanical and electrical design of a robotic manipulator
- Build and manage a team of engineers and partnerships with external organizations
- Coordinate the manufacturing and testing of electromechanical assemblies
- Manage integration of manipulation hardware with control and perception systems
This is a full-time position which will require time in Faction’s office in downtown Manhattan multiple days per week.
