Tectonic is seeking a full-time Chief Inspector for upcoming projects in the Hudson Valley and Catskill areas, including Rockland, Westchester, Dutchess, Putnam, Orange, Ulster, Columbia, Sullivan, and Delaware Counties. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Supervising, coordinating, and tracking the progress of construction projects.
  • Assisting and advising inspectors regarding project management, construction, and inspection issues.
  • Alerting supervisors of major or consistent discrepancies.
  • Preparing construction documents and records.
  • Complying with budget standards.
  • Performing inspections as needed.
  • Providing assurance to clients that the project has been constructed in accordance with the contract documents and all related duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • A minimum of 6 years of experience in civil, highway, or relevant engineering field of which 1 year shall have been in a supervisory capacity.
  • Must possess and maintain one of the following licenses/certifications:
    • Valid NICET IV Certification in Transportation/Highway Construction;
    • Valid NY Professional Engineering license;
    • Any other suitable combination of education, training, or experience will be considered;
  • NYSDOT experience or other similar public agency or DOT experience is required.
  • Excellent communication skills, both orally and written, as well as outstanding interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to prepare correspondence, reports, and recommendations concerning construction issues and to establish and maintain project records.
  • Must have the ability to obtain OSHA Safety Certifications as required.
  • Understand the fundamentals of necessary inspection codes and requirements in order to carry out testing, and must be detail-oriented.
  • Requires a valid, clean driver's license and personal vehicle to travel to and within project sites, as regular daily travel is required.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Assume a stationary position.
  • Handle, inspect, and/or feel documents, materials and/or equipment relevant to the job.
  • Communicate with colleagues, supervisors, and clients using Company email and telephone systems.
  • Move around on the job-site, including ascending or descending on the landscape or on a ladder, and positioning oneself appropriately to access necessary testing materials and equipment, usually for prolonged periods of time.
  • Lift and/or move up to 50 lbs. for some types of monitoring and inspections.
  • Good visual skills, including focused depth perception.
  • Regular daily operations of a motor-vehicle, which may require remaining stationary for extended periods of time.

PAY RANGE

Pay Range: $40.00 - $75.00 / hour
