Position OverviewWe’re seeking a Special Inspector to perform onsite inspections across NYC and ensure compliance with drawings, specifications, and codes. You’ll prepare detailed reports, collaborate with project teams, and uphold safety and quality standards throughout construction.
What You’ll Do- Conduct inspections at various construction sites in NYC and surrounding areas.
- Review field work for conformance with the plans, specifications, and shop drawings.
- Prepare and submit daily inspection reports via mobile devices.
- Verify adherence to codes, regulations, and project requirements.
- Communicate effectively with architects, engineers, contractors, and stakeholders.
- BS in Mechanical Engineering or NICET Level II Certification in Fire Protection Sprinkler Systems.
- Minimum 3 years of NYC commercial construction or inspection experience.
- Proficiency with Word, Excel, Adobe Acrobat, and mobile reporting tools.
- Very strong verbal and written communication skills.
- ICC certifications (Structural Steel, Concrete, Masonry, Mechanical, etc.)
- RA or PE license
- Supported scaffold certification and OSHA 10-hour training.
- Experience with Tenant Protection Plan compliance.
- NJ DCA Special Inspector Certification.
- Familiarity with NYC DOB codes and BIS/DOBNOW systems.
- Daily travel to multiple construction sites across NYC and the 5 boroughs.
- Standard hours:
Monday–Friday, 7:30 AM–4:00 PM; occasional paid overtime.
- Hourly range: $45.00 – $65.00, based on knowledge, skills and experience.
