The Naval Nuclear Laboratory (NNL) is seeking a motivated member to join our Industrial Fire Brigade. This position will respond to all emergencies on site by providing emergency response services as a trained Firefighter, New York State Emergency Medical Technician, Confined Space Rescuer and Hazardous Materials Technician. This position will monitor, control and test industrial systems as well as fire suppression and detection systems.
The Fire Brigade conducts inspections and monitoring of facilities, work areas and construction projects to identify and correct deficiencies and report abnormal conditions to supervision. This also involves interfacing and conducting training for NNL, subcontractor and Navy personnel.
Members of the Fire Brigade will also be trained and expected to operate industrial systems which can include drinking water, HVAC, storm water collection and processing and various fire protection systems and related support equipment. The operational duties include but are not limited to monitoring, controlling and testing of Site Industrial Systems, establishing system conditions for maintenance, responding to alarms, reporting abnormal conditions to supervision and engineering, and interfacing with the engineering staff in the maintenance and operations of the system.

- Monitor and control equipment and industrial systems
- Perform minor maintenance
- Ensure equipment is functioning properly and safely
- Performance of building inspections
- Fire pump operations and testing
- High School Diploma / GED
- Valid Driver's License
- Currently qualified New York State Emergency Medical Technician Basic (NYS-EMT-B)
- Active CPR certificate or equivalent
- National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) Firefighter 1 or equivalent
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as a career or volunteer firefighter
- 4 years or more of experience as a career or volunteer firefighter
- Firefighter 2 or equivalent
- Rope Rescue Technician or Equivalent
- Emergency Vehicle Operations Course
- Hazardous Materials Technician or equivalent

$37.64 hourly.
