Senior Geotechnical PM

Overview

A well-established and rapidly growing engineering consultancy is seeking a highly skilled Senior Project Manager / Geotechnical Engineer to support and expand its geotechnical and excavation-related service offerings.

This position is ideal for a technically strong, business-minded engineer who can lead project delivery, mentor junior staff, and drive continued operational and technical growth within the organisation.

• Lead geotechnical and excavation-related projects from concept through completion, ensuring quality, accuracy, and compliance with NYC Building Codes.
• Prepare scopes of work, proposals, cost estimates, and project schedules.
• Oversee Support of Excavation (SOE) design and construction support for:
  • Temporary & permanent excavation systems
  • Foundations
  • Retaining structures
• Manage multiple concurrent projects, ensuring deadlines, budgets, and client expectations are met.
• Provide mentorship, oversight, and technical direction to junior and mid-level engineers.
• Collaborate closely with senior leadership to enhance service offerings and support strategic growth initiatives.
• Maintain and build strong client relationships through responsive communication and technical excellence.
• Conduct technical reviews, QA/QC checks, and field coordination as needed.
• Participate in business development efforts, including cross-discipline engagement and industry networking.

• Bachelor's degree in Civil, Geotechnical, or Structural Engineering (Master's preferred).
• Professional Engineer (PE) license required - NY PE strongly preferred.
• 8-15+ years of experience in geotechnical or geostructural engineering, with demonstrated expertise in SOE design and NYC subsurface conditions.
• Strong understanding of NYC Building Codes and urban excavation practices.
• Proven track record managing projects, coordinating teams, and delivering high-quality work.
• Experience leading or mentoring engineering staff.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and decision-making skills.
• Ability to manage deadlines, budgets, and client expectations effectively.
