Overview
KB Signaling delivers end-to-end wayside and onboard signaling platforms and solutions for safety, performance, and cost efficiency in today’s transit and freight railway systems. This role is on-site in Rochester Hills, NY, and reports to the Safety Manager.
Position SummarySafety Assurance Lead is an experienced position that supports the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of safety during program and/or project development. This is an individual contributor role.
Essential Functions- Software Safety Analysis
- Perform the Safety Assurance activities on project/product development in accordance with the Safety process
- Support tenders by providing Safety Estimates
- Define the Safety Plan, including safety workload, and associated planning for the project/product development
- Perform Safety Analysis
- Apply the safety assurance methodologies (risk acceptance criteria, verification and validation) defined for the project/product development to meet the Safety Targets
- Manage the Hazard Log through closure
- Support V&V and T&C activities from a Safety perspective
- Work with Engineering teams to integrate products into projects
- Build the Safety Reports and/or the Safety Cases
- Defend the Safety Case in front of external assessors; define and follow-up action plans to close findings
- Lead (if any) the Safety Assurance Engineers involved on the project / system / product
- Manage Safety Issues of fielded solutions

- 5 years’ experience in safety assurance or safety-critical applications
- Knows and understands Safety Standards (AREMA, CENELEC, or equivalent)
- Railroad industry experience is a plus
- Bachelor’s degree in relevant Engineering (System, Electrical, Electro-mechanical, Software)
The anticipated salary range for candidates who will work in Rochester, NY is $105,400 to $158,200 per year. Final pay will depend on factors including experience and education.
