Position: Senior Mechanical Engineer (HVAC)
Location: New York

Senior Mechanical Engineer (HVAC)

We are seeking a seasoned Mechanical Engineer with strong HVAC expertise to support a variety of building projects. This role involves leading design efforts, coordinating with multidisciplinary teams, and guiding junior engineers while supporting our clients’ technical and performance goals. Conveniently located, just minutes from public transportation so easily commutable.

Responsibilities
  • Serve as a senior technical lead on mechanical system design projects
  • Mentor and support engineering staff
  • Develop designs from early concepts through construction documents
  • Perform system evaluations, calculations, equipment selection, and energy analysis
  • Participate in project meetings and collaborate closely with architects and other disciplines
  • Prepare drawings, specifications, and project documentation
  • Review RFIs, submittals, field changes, and coordinate with project and site teams
  • Conduct site visits for surveys, observations, and punch‑list work
  • Ensure designs meet applicable codes and support sustainability or energy goals
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (PE)
  • HVAC design expertise; plumbing and/or fire protection background a plus
  • Familiarity with commissioning, sustainability practices, and energy‑efficient design preferred
  • Strong communication skills and comfort working directly with clients and project partners
  • Experience managing multiple projects and meeting schedules/budgets
  • Solid understanding of construction methods and coordination across A/E disciplines
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and industry tools such as Bluebeam, Procore, AutoCAD and Revit (preferred)
