VDC Engineer

We have an immediate need for a VDC Engineer for our New York City Office in lower Manhattan. LiRo-Hill Virtual Design & Construction Operations (VDCO) is a multidisciplinary practice integrating technology and innovation for the built environment. Our team has a long history of delivering complex, ambitious projects utilizing the latest technology. The team consists of full-time staff with backgrounds and focuses ranging from Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management and Operations.

We implement BIM, Reality Capture, 3D coordination, Project Controls, Data Analytics, BIM Implementation Consulting, and more. We are seeking to build services and capabilities through the growth of our staff. LiRo-Hill is a 1100-person firm with offices in NYC, Long Island, Buffalo, Rochester, Boston and Metro Park, NJ.

We are seeking an experienced BIM Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will have strong technical expertise in building information modeling across multiple disciplines and software platforms, with a focus on delivering high-quality 3D models for complex infrastructure and building projects.

• Develop detailed 3D BIM models for architectural, structural, MEP, and utility/site infrastructure
• Oversee project model setup and management throughout the project lifecycle, including directory structure, model files, shared coordinates, phases, and model exchanges
• Understand different standards and their suitability for various types of project work and clientele
• Perform clash detection and conduct 3D trade coordination meetings and support management of trade contractor drafters
• Maintain model accuracy, consistency, and adherence to project standards and protocols
• Lead QA/QC processes and manage BIM deliverables using point clouds, contract drawings, shop drawings, and as-builts as references
• Collaborate with engineers, architects, contractors and project teams throughout the project lifecycle
• Support reality capture services (LiDAR, SLAM, etc.)
• Review contract documents, design documents, project reports, scopes of work, and manage project deliverables
• Produce Renderings, Visualizations and 4D Simulations as needed
• Assist the team in proposal development
• Support site visits and field verification as needed
• Assist in Scan-to-BIM workflows including LiDAR scanning and point cloud processing
• Troubleshoot BIM software and platform issues and stay current with emerging tools and technologies

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Architecture, Engineering, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or an AEC-related discipline
• Min. 5 years of hands-on experience working as a BIM/VDC Professional
• Excellent verbal and written communication/presentation skills, with the ability to express ideas clearly and professionally to both technical and non-technical audiences
• Ability to read, understand, and interpret contract drawings, specifications, scopes of work, and project schedules
• Proficiency in Autodesk products such as Revit, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Navisworks, and ACC Model Coordination
• Knowledge of Bentley Microstation, Projectwise and/or Open Buildings is preferred
• Strong Revit Modeling experience

• Experience working with Public Sector clients / projects is highly preferred
• Experience working on Infrastructure projects is a major advantage
• Knowledge of Bentley Open Buildings, Open Roads, and Micro Station is a plus
• Experience with software development using Revit APIs, Python, and Dynamo is a plus
• Knowledge of construction methods and processes
• Experience performing and utilizing 3D laser scans on projects

• Valid Driver s License, ability to drive to job sites
